Blogger is a great product. It made me comfortable with the idea of publishing weblogs and is an exceptionally good example of a useable and fast browser based application.

So why am I switching…well to begin with I’m lucky that I have a friend who can administer a web server that can run moveabletype. He’s also willing to let me use it (at least for awhile) until I am sure that this will be my publishing system of choice.

I also want to upload photos and avoid the advertising of blogspot.com - of course I could have fixed this by buying a subscription to premium blogger hosting on blogspot but to be honest I’m an entrepreneur and I have to watch every penny…so for now at least pyra can’t have any of my personal money, but in the future I’ll make sure they get at least some of it (maybe by hooking my family and friends onto their system ).

Finally we are using moveabletype here at work so there is a reasonable chance we’ll have a bigger server in the future to handle the intranet and then I can sneak my blog onto there.
