We’re just exuding sensibility.

“Sharing the available domain name of the week duties, and helping me pick up the slack for being out of town last week, is the indubitable Peter Schwartz. No[t] being one to simply browse through the visceral gems on my site, Peter felt moved enough to send in the following suggestion:”As I was listening to Fiona Apple’s song Mistake, the words ‘well-made mistake’ exuded the same sensibility as the domains posted on ADotW.” [splorp . blog]

Hmmm…I like this whole wellmademistake idea…? Could it be time to jump…or would that be a mistake?

If it were a mistake it would either be a beautiful irony or it would be so confusing as to what the original idea was - was the idea the mistake or was it a mistake to use the idea? that no one would know the difference. More importantly, if it was a mistake, either active or passive, the fact that you acknowledge it in seeing it as well-made means that it actually works. Right? It’s very avant-garde, Bill. I like it. Of course, the curse (and the irony) of being avant-garde is that as soon as you’re adopted by the dominant paradigm (for instance people, like me who like you) you’re no longer avant garde. Perhaps that is a mistake as well? And one you plan to make and make well? I’ll shut up now. Still a cool idea, though…
