Rainy Sunday

Derek wrote about the rainy Sunday today in Vancouver. He’s right. I spent a lot of it (too much) down at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival at David Lam park, right near my house. Saw some great bands including an old favourite, the Colouriffics (although not sure how to spell it so can’t google it) plus some new latin bands from Toronto. Might head over there again later tonight. The rain did start to pour but it doesn’t phase most Vancouverites especially with the warm breeze.

While I was there a poll taker asked me if I thought it was a good idea for the government of Canada to sponsor events like this festival, and in particular, ‘does it promote Canadian values?’. I actually appreciate the government asking (measuring) their expenditures like this, but the answer to the question is ‘yes’, for me at least. To look around and see Canadians of all backgrounds dancing in the warm Vancouver rain to latin jazz from Toronto…that’s got to be good for values…right?
