One More In The Books
Although I don’t talk specifically about work on here too often we did just launch a new system today. The clients press release is here (but its a PDF).
It’s an interesting project. The client is an industry association. Their membership (shipowners, operators, shipagents, etc.) were concerned about all the new government regulatory requirements for port security. Instead of wining just to the government about the paperwork burden they decided to create a system that would allow single entry of the information and then publish that information in the correct format to each government agency. The project took longer than any of us would have liked, mainly because I didn’t spec it out properly up front and the budget was quite restrictive, but I’m pleased with the end result. The odd thing is that all the notices are still being sent by fax…by the system…hopefully in time they can be sent via XML to the governments own systems.
