Well Documented

There may be hope yet. In my well documented list of frustrations with internet access in London I’ve been looking for a new hotel for the next few days. Of course blogs may help me more as one of my regular reads [plasticbag.org] has a useful (if not cyptic reference) to free wifi somewhere very near to my work/hotel (I think).

Here’s hoping. I’m finding out at lunch.

The world adapts to Cory Doctorow…

My theory regarding the awesome O’Reilly-sponsored wifi at Foyles café on Charing Cross Road goes a little like this:

Tim O’Reilly: “Hey Cory, how you doing?”
Cory Doctorow: “You know what sucks? Wifi in London.”
Tim O’Reilly: “Hmm…” {thinks}

[plasticbag.org]”

…and can someone tell me why Expedia does not clearly (and with a search option) flag whether a hotel has wifi or high speed. One would think that all their customers, probably using high speed to book their hotels, might be more inclined to a hotel with internet access. Oh and as I’ve said before…in ‘english’ …”internet port” means a phone plug in the wall that runs 85p per minute for a local call (assuming that is you have a local ISP to dial into).

I want to start a simple site that answers the question, “Does this hotel have high speed internet in the room I’m booking and how much is it?”
