Inevitability

“Everyday Environmentalism”
“There’s a tipping point approaching with this stuff, where — whatever one thinks of the extent of Ford’s (or BP’s) bright green convictions — simply by repeating that we can and should have green cars, homes, factories and fuel cells, big companies are hastening the day where saying otherwise will be simply unacceptable.”

Just In Case

For those family and friends running windows machines I include this link on “Foiling Spyware” by JD Lasica. It’s amazing that it has gotten this complicated to protect your system. What the hell is Microsoft doing?

Underneath The Competition, Sportsmanship Ethic Prevails
“It is the seeming miracle of the Olympiad - a two-week window when the idealistic underpinnings of the Games offer a more hopeful view of sport and humanity. In truth, the Olympics simply give the world an opportunity to turn its eyes toward what is always there.”

Long Overdue, Well Not Really

Got my new Powerbook last week. It was on the agenda for awhile but another logic board failure in my iBook sped up the need for a replacement machine. Of course I was working on something important and it wasn’t saved on the work server, lesson learned [again].
I ended up opting […]

So Very Tired

My friend Tim is getting married in a few weeks. With a few old friends from the UBC days (and one new one) we headed down to Vegas. Three days felt like six… great times, but so very tired. Pics coming.

Haven’t been to Saskatchewan in years. Very good weather, not too hot and excellent meetings.
They made me […]

Again, How Do I Get Customers?

Phil Tears Into Japanese MSN Blogs
“Again, how do you get customers? By building something that people will talk about — in the new world where word-of-mouth networks are extremely efficient you need to build best-of-breed-tools or you won’t get market share.”
While we don’t make blogging software (thankfully), I’ve no doubt that clean, good design generates […]

London Home

Back home from a short trip to London. Here’s a picture of the building I work in there. Wandered around Downing Street and Westminster too.
More pics here…

Windows Maintenance

Although I don’t use Windows, I get lots of support questions from family and friends. It’s beyond me now to maintain properly so I often turn to friends who work with Windows as their full time occupation to help troubleshoot the family computers. That said, this program, Startup Monitor, looks like it might […]
