Caution To Mac Users Flying British Airways (aka BT Openzone Sucks)

If you’re flying through Heathrow via British Airways and are a Mac user watch out for the wifi access in the lounge. They use the BT OpenZone system and for some inexplicable reason it will not work with Apple Safari or Firefox. What’s worse is the error tells you to call into customer support instead of explaining that their server (for some nonsense reason) thinks cookies aren’t turned on (which isn’t true either).

When I finally called customer support their advice was to use internet explorer - I kindly explained I no longer have that program on my computer, and it isn’t even supported as the current browser on Apple computers the customer service person insisted I must have my cookies disabled. When will companies learn that this sort of nonsense is bad for business? How hard is it to check your system with other browsers, particularly considering how many Mac users have wifi? It’s actually enough of a reason for me to not fly BA again (and my tickets aren’t cheap). I’m happily going back to the T-Mobile service in the Air Canada lounge; which by the way is better than the BA lounge.
