Change Can Happen
I voted YES in BC’s referendum on changing our electoral system. The Single Transferable Vote system seems complicated, but it is a fair and sophisticated way to better ensure a broader range of representation in our elected parliaments. I also voted yes to support the basic principle of change and improvement in our government. In Canada we’re afraid to discuss change, as if it’s an attack on what we’ve accomplished so far. There’s a lot to be critical of any incumbent government but considerable due should be given to Gordon Campbell and the BC Liberals for following through on their promise to allow regular citizens to design an improved electoral system.
I just hope it passes. Flash explanation of how it all works here.
