No Comparison

I’ve started to read the Vancouver Housing Market Blog. It’s a good read on the (over)-exuberance of the market in Vancouver. Being in London these days I found the recent post (and link to Globe article on London) particularly accurate.

He writes…

“We have occasionally heard comparisons of Vancouver to London or New York as ‘world class’ cities. One of my responses has always been ‘yeah, but Vancouver lacks a financial sector.’”

I love Vancouver, and the idea of making it my long term home… but for all its cleanliness and beauty it definitely lacks the scope of high paying jobs driving economic growth in London. Our real estate market has a long way to go to reach London levels; but we shouldn’t be comparing it to London levels anyways. The post on Woodwards is particularly good as well.
