Rebuild

My Mac inexplicably crashed on the weekend. Thankfully Carbon Copy Cloner saved the day. I had a back up from a couple of weeks ago and was able to boot off the secondary drive. From there I could copy my primary mail, documents and music accounts (about the only thing that changes daily) over to the backup drive. After that I wiped the main drive and back upped the back up…to it (quite a mouthful).

The crash occurred when I updated with the latest security patch from Apple. After installing the computer just hung for hours. I was unable to restart (or get passed the grey startup screen rather). I’m not sure what went wrong…I know I saw a lot of errors on the Geek Tool console view as the update completed. Not sure if Geek Tool affected it or not but suffice to say, my Saturday night was spent hoping I could get my machine back to where I was….Thanks to Derek for pressuring me into regular back ups for my personal system (and for making it easy). Whew!
